LESSON/PRINCIPLE

This is one of the core principles of our coaching program and one that I took from a speech given by the personal finance guru, Dave Ramsey.

Compression Principle: Just as an airplane engine helps the plane to take off, by compressing air into the combustion chamber, we can apply the same principle to our businesses.

The technical explanation goes like this: The airplane fans rotate 2800 times per minute, sucking air into the engine. As the air travels through the massive fan, and then smaller blades, the air is separated into two streams, low pressure compression and high pressure compression, where the air is compressed at a rate of 35 times higher in pressure and 1,000 degrees hotter than the air outside. Then, the air enters the combustion chamber where it gets mixed with gas and becomes even hotter, which causes the pressure to go even higher. Now the super-heated and compressed air blasts through the high pressure turbines making the blades turn at over 10,000 revolutions per minute which, in turn, makes the plane move. The system is a little more complex but the principle is that without the compressors, the plane would not move. If the air is not compressed, the pressure doesn’t increase and the airplane doesn’t move.

APPLICATION

In real estate, we need to create momentum by compressing our activities, generate enough leads, and make enough presentations to make sure clients keep coming. That same momentum will motivate us to keep prospecting, continue to follow up, and to present even more which, as a result, will allow us to close more deals. One of the best ways to create this momentum and to take off is to apply this compressor principle, where WE DETERMINE THE ACTIVITIES WE MUST DO DURING THE NEXT 365 DAYS AND COMPRESS THEM INTO 90 DAYS.

How many contacts, pre-qualifications, presentations, and closings do you need to make during the following 12 months? Figure out those numbers and make sure you compress those activities into 90 days.
