This piece of the puzzle is about the importance of building a platform for your real estate business. In case you haven’t noticed, in the real estate industry the stage is seriously crowded. According to the National Association of Realtors as of December 2013 there are over 1,032,000 active agents in North America and more than 32,000 members in South Florida alone. (These figures don’t include real estate agents that don’t belong to the NAR but practice as real estate brokers.) So how do you get noticed in this very noisy industry? You build a platform. As Michael Hyatt succinctly states in his book Platform (a book I highly recommend) a platform is what you stand on to be heard. In my case, for example, I have different platforms where my message is heard; TV, Radio, different realtor’s associations, this website, seminars, companies like Coldwell Banker where I train their agents, and my podcast. You may be a great real estate agent with great knowledge, presentation skills and intentions. But in today’s economy that isn’t enough. With so many active real estate agents, you need a PLATFORM so you can be heard, a platform where your target audience can see and hear you on a regular basis so you become the expert of choice for their real estate needs. To build a long lasting, successful business you must be able create a platform that lets you:

  1. Differentiate yourself from other agents
  2. Keep in touch with current clients
  3. Generate new clients on a consistent basis
