Preparation and Practice

QUOTE

“I don’t fear the person that practices 10,000 kicks one time; I fear the one that practices one kick 10,000 times.” – Bruce Lee

LESSON/PRINCIPLE

A common assumption made by real estate agents, especially new ones, is that they can make money without mastering the proper skills to excel as a professional sales person. I am always astonished at how the common agent creates completely false expectations about his ability to generate income in this business without preparing for the task at hand.

According to the National Association of Realtors, 98% of all real estate agents don’t have a formal real estate sales methodology.

If you want to become a lawyer, accountant, doctor, engineer, or a successful sales person you must prepare. Yet, most real estate agents just take the licensing exam and start selling properties, only to find out, 6-12 months later, they can’t make any money, let alone grow their business, due to the fact that they lack the necessary sales skills.

As Henry Ford very well stated, “Before everything else, getting ready is the secret of success.”

“Another key important factor to success is self-confidence and an important key to self-confidence is PREPARATION.” – Arthur Ashe.

Lawyers prepare for 80-90 court cases a week. Football players practice 60-70 hours a week preparing for an hour long game. Doctors prepare for long hours before an operation, airline pilots have an extensive checklist before every take off. Professional athletes get to the stadium at least three hours before the game, every day in order get ready. All these professionals continue training throughout their careers on a daily basis.

APPLICATION

Think about this: How much could you earn if you were as prepared as an actor, lawyer, doctor, a professional singer, dancer, or an athlete? What if you knew what to say every time you made a presentation and you knew the response to every objection your client was going to ask?

Do you think you can get to that level?

Do you practice with the intensity to truly compete, make money, and build your business in this market?

After studying me, do you think you are prepared?

The question is, are you willing to do whatever it takes to get to my level?

The only way to make money at anything is to be fully prepared. Guess what? The top paid agents in the industry make as much money as most athletes, actors, doctors, and lawyers.

So make absolutely sure you practice and prepare yourself, because THE PRACTICE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE LISTING OR ANY CLIENT. If you practice, you can take listings all day long.

Imagine what you could accomplish if you really practice like a professional?

“The greatest enemy in life is ignorance, and the greatest ignorance is that mistaken believe that we can receive more than what we truly earn and deserve.” – Earl Nightingale

“Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” – St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226)

If you want to compete at a high level, achieve a high level of success and dominate the field, you must develop the habit of practicing and preparing yourself.
